About Iola Community Theatre

We were founded in February 1965 by a small group of devoted individuals, who believed … "The mission of ICT is to foster, encourage, coordinate, establish, and publish the performance and exhibition of the creative arts in Allen County, Kansas and the surrounding area, and to encourage, develop, strengthen and enrich the cultural life of the Allen County area."

In pursuit of that end, we hope that our WWW presence will provide a resource for the area community. We hope not only to provide easy access to our organization, but to help foster an interest in the theatrical arts. Whether you are an aspiring actor, musician, director, designer, technician, carpenter, seamstress, painter, audience member, or patron – we want you.

There is no official "Community Theater Membership" roster.  We don't have membership cards or hats. We have no dues or requirements for membership other than a desire to work with good people to enrich our community (and have some fun along the way).  It will cost you some time, energy, and creativity ... but the rewards are priceless.

Iola is located in Southeast Kansas.  Visit the Official Allen County web site, or the Official City of Iola site for community information (these open in a new window).

Our rehearsal and meeting space is in the Warehouse Theatre, where we presented our first dinner theater production in 1991.  Space is quite limited there, but it provides for a very intimate performance.  We can accommodate 74 for dinner shows or 100 in row seating.  With restricted off stage production space it provides a challenge for designer and directors.  For larger productions we have the wonderful advantage of the Thomas H. Bowlus Fine Arts Center half a block away. That venue provides us with an 700 seat house, and a full 40' proscenium with fly loft. Click here for maps.
